Intermarine Pontoons within the Olympic Park London
Intermarine completed yet another project for the Canal & River Trust. The 80m of 4.5m wide pontoons are based on a similar modular system used within the Albert Dock in Liverpool, which are upgraded from the standard Atlantic Waterways to Seawork general specifications. The pontoons are installed on the River Lee which can be very fast flowing in flood and the pontoons had to be strong enough to take extreme conditions and larger vessels. In fact the installation was very challenging with three 1:100 year floods occurring during the installation period!
As part of the works Intermarine also designed bespoke fixed landings for small vessels that could withstand high river flows and being submerged under flood waters. Three of these landings were installed on the site.
This obviously high profile site required careful design, high quality materials and products and a well planned installation. Despite the weather, tight program and security bottlenecks, Intermarine managed to complete works on time and supply a very attractive and robust mooring.
